Courses of InterestNew Classes An increasing number of SIRLS students have expressed interest in Archives. During Pre-Summer Session, currently underway, we are offering two archive courses to begin addressing this interest. Randy Silverman, Preservation Librarian for the University of Utah's Marriott Library, is teaching an advanced issues course on archive preservation. David Gracy, Governor Bill Daniel Professor in Archival Enterprise at the University of Texas' Information School, is teaching an advanced issue course on archive appraisal. Other new courses of interest include IRLS 588: Community
Assessment being taught by Elizabeth Martinez and Cheryl Metoyer. The
course will be held this fall on three weekends. Richard Stoffle, a faculty
member in the Anthropology department at UA, will be teaching "Alternative
Ways of Knowing: Information Seeking Skills in Native Cultures". Both
courses were arranged through the Knowledge River program. Scholarship Information SIRLS encourages and supports students to apply for scholarships.
