Checklist for Individual Study
Please read application policies/procedures
first.
- Evaluate your academic credentials.
- Applicant must have taken 12 units of graduate credit.
- Applicant must have 3.00 or higher GPA.
- Applicant can have no incomplete grades.
- Applicant must be enrolled as a degree seeking student.
- Consult faculty advisor.
- Consult potential site advisor (do NOT secure any signatures at
this time).
- Develop proposal
This MUST include the following:
- Rationale for study
- Detailed goals and objectives
- Courses taken, and those in progress
- Timetable for completion
- Name, e-mail (if obtainable) and FULL address of site advisor.
- Prepare Application for Individual Studies cover sheet.
- Specify term of registration
- Specify term of initiation
- Specify number of units (maximum 3 units per study)
- Submit application and proposal to faculty advisor for processing.
- After the SIRLS Office notifies you via e-mail that your study
has been fully approved
- Contact site advisor to confirm final details.
- Confirm Registration.
- Pay fees by Bursar's
deadlines.
- By the LAST day of classes, you must complete the study and submit
your final report (3-5 pages) to your faculty advisor. If you do not
submit a final report, you will receive an Incomplete grade for that
study. This could delay graduation in some instances.
