These students are called Continuing Education (CE) students. Continuing Education students may register for SIRLS classes (either for-credit or not-for credit) on a space-available basis and with SIRLS approval. The admissions process is described below. CE Students Intending to Enroll in the SIRLS MA ProgramCE students may apply to the SIRLS MA Program and after their information is reviewed, if they are admitted, may apply up to six (6) credits of coursework taken as a CE student to the SIRLS program requirements. CE students intending to apply to the SIRLS MA Program must take IRLS 504 (Foundations of Library & Information Services) as their first class. This is because IRLS 504 is a required first class of all new MA Program students. IRLS 504 is excellent preparation for the MA Program and provides the foundational knowledge for new students to succeed in the Program. In addition, CE students are strongly urged to take IRLS 506 (Research Methods) as a second class. If IRLS 506 is not available, then CE students should work with the SIRLS Academic Advising Coordinator, Tom Wilding, to select an appropriate alternative course. CE students must be aware that admitted degree-seeking students have priority in course registration. CE students intending to enroll in the SIRLS MA Program are strongly urged to do so at the earliest time possible. Admissions Process In order to take classes at SIRLS through continuing education, students need to follow a simple, 2-step application process.
CostThe Graduate College requires a $25 fee for each Continuing Education application. Please note that when UA tuition is increased, the cost per CE course will also increase. Costs below are approximate for 2007-2008.
* These totals do not include extra
fees. Email Geraldine Fragoso(sirls@email.arizona.edu) with CE questions. updated December 6, 2007 |
